The leather

Half Hold's core range of products are made with leathers sourced from Consorzio Vera Pelle verified tanneries, ensuring no animal is killed for its skin & that all hides tanned are byproducts. Each tannery undergoes strict quality control inspections to ensure that only the highest quality articles are produced under their certification.

Only natural raw materials are used in the tanning processes, known as vegetable tanning, making for chrome-free & non-toxic production. This allows the tanning process to comply with stringent environmental guidelines.

The Construction

Each product under Half Hold is built with traditional artisan craftsmanship, the entire process is completed by hand, slowly & meticulously. Every item is hand saddle-stitched, a labor-intensive construction using two needles at each end of the thread. Saddle stitching is considerably more durable than a machine-stitch due to each thread being interlinked & tied in every loop. The thread I use is a heavy flat polyester thread with a waxed & braided structure. Braided synthetics are substantially more durable than traditional linen, and the flat profile minimises everyday abrasion through wear-and-tear.
